STH Bülten – Erdem Genç
How does Erdem Genç introduce himself? What does it say on his business card, for instance?
My business card says Chief Entertainment Officer. We entertain companies. I graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Yıldız Technical University, and in Public Relations and Business Administration from Anadolu University. I'm currently doing a master's degree in Entrepreneurship at Özyeğin University. I have three books: one is a story collection, one is personal development, and one is travel writing. I'm also a musician — I sing and play percussion.
Could you briefly summarize the fields of activity of the companies you've founded, and M3 Works' area of activity in particular?
As I mentioned, M3 Works entertains companies. We're a corporate events company that runs team-building and motivation training programs. Our areas of expertise include workshops such as rhythm, dance, photography and marbling (ebru), indoor and outdoor team games, and custom direct-marketing projects.
What innovations has M3 Works brought to Turkish business life? What have you done to boost internal communication within companies, and how has the response been?
Developing teamwork and motivation within companies has become increasingly popular in recent years. Companies' HR departments are grasping the importance of this kind of training more and more over time. Foreign companies that regularly apply this kind of approach in their own countries show even greater interest, and I believe this will spread more broadly over time and become an established practice.
Our feedback has been fantastic. Think of it this way: professionals in the business world work at a constantly intense pace, and frankly, they have little or no time to devote to hobbies or personal interests. By giving them small breaks during work life — without pulling them away from it, but rather highlighting the common ground between art and business — we create added value and the chance to spend quality time together. The returns from this are, of course, considerable. We believe in what we do so strongly, and the feedback we get is so positive, that whenever companies give us permission, we publish photos and videos of all our projects, with descriptions, on our website.
What was the most surprising result you've seen at an M3 Works event?
Do you also advise companies on which type of event is most suitable for them?
Of course. In fact, it's usually tailor-made. We get to know and analyze the company, then move forward with the most suitable solutions. Sometimes we design new games. That's why our catalogue keeps growing thicker by the day. Our 2015 catalogue features more than 150 activities.
