Interested in music from a young age, Erdem Genç did not leave music behind when he stepped into the business world. Combining his work with music, he founded one of the companies that brings the most entertainment to the business world. Despite his hectic work schedule, Genç never drifted away from music, his childhood love; he released his first album, Motivasyon, in 2019 and gave concerts. Now he is back with a “series of rock covers” project. In this project, well-loved songs are rearranged, recorded with a harder sound and given music videos shot as live studio performances, and the first song was Tarkan’s Geççek.

Having turned Tarkan’s Geççek, a song with more than 65 million views, into a rock track, Genç said he would also turn Hadise’s Hay Hay, Sefo’s Bilmem mi, Sura İskenderli’s Ee Daha Daha Nasılsınız, Serdar Ortaç’s Poşet, Zeynep Bastık’s Yalan and many other popular songs into rock.
He Will Sing for Students
Genç, who has given young people a one-year scholarship alongside the songs he has produced, said he would continue to support young people by offering scholarships with his new songs as well. The young singer said he is continuing work on an album titled “Nerelerdesin”, to be released shortly.
Genç also shared the good news that he will give all of the album’s proceeds to students as scholarships. “Our student years were hard for all of us. I am aware that, especially in this period of economic hardship, we need to reach out to our younger brothers and sisters who are students. So I will donate all the proceeds from my album ‘Nerelerdesin’, which will be released very soon, to my student brothers and sisters,” Genç said.
“I Hope They Like It”
Expressing his sadness over the festivals canceled recently in particular, Genç explained why they chose this song: “It didn’t sit right with us that the lyrical harshness of Geççek wasn’t matched well enough by the music, so we said, let’s do our own take. We have now presented Geççek to listeners in a harder form. I hope listeners like it as much as we do.”
Alongside the classic rock instruments of guitar, drums and bass, the song also features keyboards. In the music video, recorded at Canavar Studios, the skull-shaped microphone stand that Erdem Genç had a sculptor design stands out.
About Erdem Genç
A Mechanical Engineering graduate of Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ), Erdem Genç studied Marketing Management at Boğaziçi University and earned an MBA at Özyeğin University. He completed his vocal training with Murat İlkan, vocalist of the band Pentagram, and soprano Günay Acar, a lecturer at the İTÜ State Conservatory. His first album, Motivasyon, was released in 2019 on the Spicy Records label and won the Most Promising Rock Artist of the Year award at the Turkey Youth Awards.
Genç, who has played in bands since his high-school years, also has a demo/EP recording titled Dreams Have No Limits (Düşlerin Sınırı Yoktur). Erdem plays percussion and runs rhythm workshops with the groups Varillaz and Ritmbox. He has also published four books in the fields of personal development and literature. In addition, he has received awards such as Turkey’s Most Outstanding Young Person and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
