The "Medipol Career Summit '17", organized by the Medipol University Human Resources Club, brought together leading executives from companies and organizations operating in different sectors. The conference, held at Medipol University's Kavacık South Campus on 11-12 April 2017, was hosted by TRT presenter İlker Koç. Opened with speeches by Medipol University Faculty of Business and Management Sciences lecturers Prof. Dr. Kerem Alkin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nihat Alayoğlu, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pelin Vardarlıer, the summit ran for two days across a total of eight sessions.
"SOCIAL CAPITAL IS PROPORTIONAL TO ONE'S ADDRESS BOOK"
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nihat Alayoğlu, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, who delivered the opening speech, said that a person's social capital is directly proportional to the phone numbers in their address book. Alayoğlu advised students to maintain, in the future, the relationships they build with participants at the summit. Prof. Dr. Kerem Alkin, Head of the Department of International Trade and Finance at the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, noted that such summits should address not only today's professions but also those likely to exist in the future, and argued that the next ten years will not be easy for world politics and the economy. Alkin said that today's students face difficult tasks ahead in Turkey's future. Asst. Prof. Dr. Pelin Vardarlıer, Head of the Human Resources Department, said that the Human Resources Club, which organized the event, aims to serve as a bridge between companies and students.
EXECUTIVES ADDRESSED DIFFERENT TOPICS IN THE SESSIONS
In the first session, which began following a presentation by Elif Kunter, Corporate Communications Manager of sponsor company SecretCV, Ufuk Özdemir, Human Resources Director of Kibar Holding, Beste Şirin Petekçi, Human Resources Director of HD İskender, Human Resources Consultant Artemiz Güler, and Aslı Bursa, Assistant General Manager of APLUS Hospital Hospitality Services, discussed the topic "A Perspective on Corporate Life".
